Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP)

Express entry program manages the profiles under the above-mentioned programs, each of these programs has different requirements. Here, we will discuss the minimum requirements of the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP) for Canada PR Visa:

  • Minimum Points – Have to score a minimum of 67 points out of 100 in the FSWP points assessment grid.
  • Work Experience – You must have a minimum of one year of work experience in a skilled occupation categorized under Canada’s National Occupation Classification (NOC) skill level 0, A or B.
  • Language Ability – You have to score the minimum 6 per band in IELTS in all four abilities – Reading, Writing, Listening & Speaking
  • Education – You must have a minimum of a completed certificate, diploma, or degree from a secondary institution or post-secondary institution. It must be assessed by an authorized assessing body by getting an ECA – Educational Credential Assessment
  • Proof of funds – You have to show that you have enough funds to support yourself for the move to Canada or any accompanying family members.
  • Must be admissible to Canada

As discussed above, to create an express entry profile, you must score a minimum of 67 points out of 100 in the FSWP points assessment grid. The 67 points system is different from the CRS that is used to rank profiles in the express entry pool.

Points are awarded based on the following six factors:

 

  • Language Ability (Maximum 28 points): You can get 24 points for your first language proficiency and further 4 points if you prove your ability in the second official language.
  • Education (Maximum 25 points): You can get the maximum 25 points if you have a Doctoral level degree with a minimum of 5 points for Secondary school.
  • Work Experience (Maximum 15 points): Maximum 15 points are awarded for work experience of 6 years or more. One year of work experience is required to be eligible for FSWP, which gets you 9 points for the same.
  • Age (Maximum 12 points): Maximum 12 points are awarded to the age group of 18 to 35 years of age. After that, there is a gradual decrease in a single point as a candidate gets older.
  • Arranged Employment (Maximum 10 points): If you are able to get a valid job offer from a Canadian employer, you can get the maximum points for that.
  • Adaptability (Maximum 10 points): If you are moving to Canada with your spouse, you can get points depending on the qualifications of your spouse.

Applicants for the Express Entry System must obtain a minimum of 67 points out 100 points. According to (IRCC)  if your score is higher or equivalent to 67 you can immigrate to Canada as a skilled worker. If your score is lower than 67, you do not qualify to migrate to Canada as a skilled worker but you can opt for any other visa program. Applicants with the highest Comprehensive Ranking System scores and ranking in the Express Entry pool are sent an Invitation to Apply (ITA) from Canada.
